Catalina is a small island of less than 10 square kilometers located off the coast of La Romana, where it is easily visible. The island consists of coral stones and is surrounded by one of the most diverse ecosystems in the Caribbean Sea. Classified as a Protected Natural Park and practically uninhabited, it has become a popular spot for diving, fishing, and snorkeling. Visitors admire its vibrant seabed filled with corals, sea sponges, and a plethora of tropical fish.

Despite its size, the island boasts numerous picturesque white sand beaches, well-sheltered from the wind. These calm, turquoise, crystal-clear waters create the perfect environment for snorkeling and allow you to discover what you’ve always dreamed of seeing: coral formations, brightly colored tropical fish, stunning sea sponges, seahorses, or perhaps even the famous lionfish or toadfish.

It’s often said that keeping your eyes open underwater can sting, but when snorkeling around Catalina Island, your eyes might sting from regret if you don’t open them to marvel at the vibrant marine life.
